Succinite/Baltic Amber Bracelet - Reddish Brown

Baltic Amber is roughly 44 million years old.  It got its name from the Baltic region where home to the largest known deposit of amber.  Baltic Amber is a fossilized tree resin which had been produced in forests of conifers in the Eocene period.    
Succinum is the Latin term for a substance that is ultimately derived from sap or resin from aged pine trees and is an organic gemstones, meaning they are produced by a living organism.  To become amber, the resin has resided in the ground for millions of years.  Amber had long been used as a medicinal agent in Europe, Middle East and China.  Today amber is still use in Chinese medicine.
Amber is one of the four classes of organic gemstones that are sought after for their natural appeal and rarity (the other three are coral, jet and pearl).  Molecular polymerization, resulting from high pressures and temperatures produced by overlying sediment, transforms the resin first into copal (young amber).  Over time, heat and pressure drives off terpense and complete the formation of amber.
